  • Myth vs Fact

    Myth vs Fact

Freightliner Truck On HighwayThe Filter Minder® filter monitoring device makes it easy for you to tell when it's time to change filters.

The myth is that an automotive air filter should be changed about every 6,000 miles, or when it "looks dirty."

The fact is that a certain amount of dirt in an air filter actually increases its filtering efficiency by reducing the size of the holes in the filter media which helps stop smaller dirt particles.

This means that instead of a maximum life of 6,000 miles, the typical air filter may actually last anywhere from 60,000 to 100,000 miles!

  • When To Service?

    When To Service?

A Dirty Filter Element Is Better Than A Clean OneAir filter restriction is not time or miles dependent.

Mileage of as much as 300,000 to as little as 5,000 miles have been reported when restriction is reached.

It is important to know the highest full load restriction that occurred during the vehicle operation in order to service BEFORE the redline.

After an element has reached its redline value, it only takes a little more contaminant before high fuel consumption and poor engine operation occurs.  Don't Dust Your Engine!

  • Air Line Filter and Indicator
    Early Filter Life

In routine use, air flows through the Air Line Filter, trapping particles.

The Air Line Filter and Indicator (ALFI) protects against harmful debris and contaminants in high pressure air lines in a wide variety of industrial, transportation and on-site applications requiring compressed air or gas.

  • Air Line Filter and Indicator
    End of Life

Extreme clogging will extend the red indicator (as device progresses towards full bypass mode) until it is fully extended, locked, and requires replacement. Build-up of debris will open the bypass to keep air flowing.

When restriction becomes excessive, a bright red indicator deploys from the device, indicating it is time to change the filter.

The filter cartridge is replaceable with a 1-1/4” wrench/socket and is ready again to protect your operating assets in just seconds.

Filter Minder® Fuel Filter Gauge

Filter Minder® Fuel Filter Indicator - Tee Fitting

Filter Minder® Fuel Filter Indicator - Straight Fitting

How It Works

The Filter Minder® Fuel Filter Gauge monitors the suction side fuel filter on diesel engines. The yellow position indicator progressively fills the window as fuel filter restriction increases, locking at the highest restriction.  The fuel filter should be changed when the indicator reaches the red zone.

The Filter Minder® should be reset whenever the service indicator is checked to determine fuel filter restriction or when a new fuel filter is installed. Push the reset button at the end of the service indicator, and the position indicator will return to zero.

Filter Minder® Single Position Indicator

Air Filter Restriction Monitoring Indicator

Single Position Indication / Threaded Mount

How It Works

The Filter Minder® Single Position Indicator features a window that turns red when the maximum air filter restriction has been reached. The filter should be replaced when the window turns red.

The Filter Minder® should be reset whenever the service indicator is checked to determine air filter restriction or when a new air filter is installed. Push the reset button at the end of the service indicator, and the position indicator will return to zero.
